Bright Star Society presents an exclusive Deusi Bhailo Program on the auspicious occasion of Dipawali 2016!
In order to spread awareness on health, hygiene, disability rights and more social issues via the artistic presentations of music and songs, we are coming to your homes on October 30 and 31, please get involved or kindly invite us in your homes/locations!
Deusi Vailo, a singing and dancing tradition performed during Tihar celebrations is the cultural legacy that Bright Star Society has also been promoting every year. In the past years, the funds collected from Deusi and Bhailo was donated to Nepal Heart Foundation and Nepal Kidney Centre to treat those who were suffering from various chronic diseases who could not afford treatment.
As we are working hard to rebuild our earthquake-affected communities through entrepreneurship development, the funds we raise will be used to continue our efforts on fostering youth and disability rights and issues, promoting inclusion and accessibility and empowering the youth and adults with special needs/disabilities via trainings, supports and assistive/adaptive tools!
Hence, we want you to involve, we want you to be the part of it. Using the opportunity granted by our culture, we are coming to your doors, will you please welcome us?

On the occasion of 25th International Day of the Persons with Disabilities, we are going to organize a week-long campaigns with different activities and initiatives to increase awareness and promote the understanding of disability rights and issues amongst the people. As an onset of the campaign on Dec 3, with the partnership with like-minded youth-led organizations, we are conducting a mass inclusive solidarity rally and special program to mark the International Disability Day 2016! The inclusive Rally will focus on raising awareness regarding the newly-constructed Tactile-paving routes for visually-impaired in Kathmandu. The rally aims at educating people about the significance of tactile paving, making them understand about the right to risk-free navigation and obstacle-free mobility of blind and visually-impaired on Tactile Path. Tactile-paved yellow path is a new addition in promoting accessible mobility environment for visually-impaired pedestrians in Kathmandu, however, there are many hitches, potholes and obstacles in the pavements which always affect the barrier-free navigation of blind individuals. So in order to mark those places that need to be fixed, we will make symbolic paintings, mark with question sign and draw the attention of people, stakeholders and government. We welcome your active participation, support and solidarity for this cause. We ask all the sighted communities to join your hands with us to help endorse the better accessibility for the persons with disabilities.
Date: Saturday, Dec-3, 2016 from 10-2 PM. The rally starts from Jamal and ends at Sankata Temple in New Road. We will have a formal program and white cane distribution ceremony right after the rally in Sankata Temple Ground.
